Custer County is one of the largest and most beautiful regions in Colorado. It is home to approximately 4,000 people; plus a vast variety of wildlife. Views of the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range are spectacular and outdoor activities are enjoyed during all seasons. Wet Mountain Valley nestles between the majestic Sangres and the Wet Mountain Range. The valley is rich with wildflowers and prairie hay. The towns of Westcliffe, Silver Cliffe and Hilllside offer shopping, recreation and sense of support for residents in Custer County. Wet Mountain Valley Community Clinic provides most health services, the closest hospitals are located approximately 50 miles in the cities of Cañon City, Pueblo, Colorado Springs. Custer County Consolidated is the educational system for Custer County. Also providing information and support for children and families is the Community Learning Center and Custer County Pre-School. Family programs which offer individual, quality services are, Parents As Teachers, Nurturing Program and Early Childhood Connections-Part C of the law I.D.E.A.
